Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Battery/charging system, craftsman riding lawn mower, charging system

Question
Hi, I have a Craftsman riding lawn mower model: 536.270290. I would like to know if this mower has a charging system to re-charge the battery or if it just runs off the battery until it is used up. It seems like it doesn't have any charging system since I need to re-charge the battery at least 2 times each season. If it does have a charging system do you think I could have a bad battery or do you think the problem would be in the charging system. Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks Louie

Answer
 Hello Louis:

There is a Stator(Charger) on this Engine. To Check the Stator Start the Engine and Run at Full Throttle. Check the Battery Voltage. It Should Read between 12.5VDC and 13.5VDC The Voltage May be Higher, Up to 14.5VDC but no Higher. If the Voltage is Less Than 12.5 VDC, then the Stator Isnt Charging the Barrery. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
