Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): wiring from Kawasaki to B&S, kawasaki engine, pig tails

Question
I recently purchased a scag walk behind ( M#sw48-14 KAE    S#24770046 ) which had a blown 14 hp Kawasaki engine. The engine was not repairable.I bought a B&S 17.5 ( M# 31C707   S# 0230EI   C# 05033IZB )  as a replacement.I have the engine mounted to the deck and ready to wire but I don't know what wire go where. The Scag harness has a 3 flat prong plug and the B&S has a 4 round prong plug. The wires on the Scag are some what faded but it looks to be 1 red wire / 1 org. & red stripped wire / and 1 white & blk stripped wire. The B&S has 1 org. to stator / 1 red to stator / 1 gray to carb. and 1 blk to coil.I want to make short pig tails to adapt to the different plugs so that I don't have to cut wires. Also the starter wires are some what different. The Kaw. had starter with a coil.Battery and key switch went to side of starter and a green wire went to the coil.Do I need the green coil wire.I hope you can help me out as I do not want to short anything out. This is a brand new B&S engine.

Answer
 Hello Jerry:

On the B&S Engine, The Org Stator Wire is for the Headlights. The Red Stator Wire is the Battery Charging Lead. The Gray is Hot when the Switch is Turned On to Open the Carburator Soleniod and is Hot while the Engine is Running. The Black is a Coil Ground Wire to Ground the Coil  and Stop the Engine from Firing the Plug. This Wire is Grounded Only when the Switch is in the Off Position. You wont need to use the Green Wire for the Coil. The Green was Hot to the External Coil. The Starter Wire goes to the Ignition Soleniod and is Hot Only when the Switch is turned to the Start Position, Then Neutral when the Switch is in the Run Position. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck
