Question -
I have a sears lawn mower that is about 3 years old..it starts great but will not shut off ..at first I got it to shut off by pulling on the cable that was attached to the bar that you hold when starting the mower...now that dont work any more and I have to push on a metal piece that is near the motor...any sugestions...

Answer -
 Hello Laura:

Follow the Engine Stop/Brake Cable to the Engine. Remove the Cover at the End of the Cable. Have Someone Operate the Cable and Watch the Lever Move. It Should Connect with the Small Stop Switch When the Bar is Released. The Cable May Need Replacing or the Spring on the Stop/Brake Assembly May be Broken or has Jumped Off. Send me the Model Numbers Off of the Mower and the Engine, Please. With these I can View a Breakdown of the Mower and the Engine and Better Assist you. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Hello Laura:

Go to this Addy http://shop.briggsandstratton.com/BShopProductListingPage.asp?rsvp=0&PARENTID=0& and Enter the Engine Numbers 12H802 and the Type Numbers 2675. On the Next Page Scroll to the Second Listing and Click on View PDF. This will Start a Download of the Engine on the Mower. This Illustrated Parts will Show the Shutoff/Brake. The Brake Assembly is on Page 7 of 18, Number 923. The Stop Switch is Number 621 in the Picture Number 923. The Stop Switch Grounds the Coil and Stops it from Firing the Plug. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.
