Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): engine craftsman II lawnmover, stroke engine, cycle engines

Question
I recently got a used Craftsman II lawnmower   4 speed, rear
drive..there appeared to be oil in the gas and I was wondering if
this is a mower that you mix gas with oil as in a two stroke
engine? Is this model a two stroke engine?

Answer
 Hello Alan:

Send me the Make, Model, Type and Code Numbers Off of the Engine, Please. The Gas in the Oil is from the Carburator Float Needle Not Stopping the Flow of Gas to the Carburator when the Mower is Not in Use and the Gas Fills the Cylinder and Seeps by the Rings into the Crankcase. Install a Cutoff Valve in the Gas Line and Turn Off the Gas Flow to the Carburator when the Mower is Not being Used. You can Clean and Rebuild the Carburator and this will Help for a Short Time, but the Shutoff Valve will Still be Needed to Prevent this from Happening Again in the Future. Check the Gas Tank Cap and Ensure it is Venting the Tank Properly. Change the Oil. I have not Seen that Many Riding Mowers that Use 2 Cycle Engines. Hope this Helps. Leet me know what Happens, Please.
