Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Lawnmower Engine Repair, briggs stratton engine, briggs stratton

Question
I have a craftsman riding lawnmover with a briggs & stratton engine.  Tried to start it and it wouldn't turn over. Could smell gas and checked the carburetor and could see that it was flooded and gas was also into the air filter.  Gas was running from gas tank directly into carburetor.  I took off the gas line and drained tank to stop flow of gas into carburetor.  Ideas on what would cause nonstop flow of gas and what it might take to fix it?

Answer
 Hello Judd:

Yes Sir, I Know what the Problem is. The Carburator Float Needle isnt Stopping the Flow of Gas to the Carburator Bowl when the Carburator Bowl is Full as it Should. I Suggest to Everyone that they Install a Shut Off in the Gas Line and Turn Off the Flow of Gas to the Carburator whenever they Are Not using the Mower. However, in your Case you will need to Change the Oil and Clean and Rebuild the Carburator as well as Install the Shut Off Valve in the Gas Line. Also Check the Gas Tank Cap and Ensure that it is Venting the Tank Properly. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
