Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 8 HP Briggs starts hard, wont start when warm, hp briggs, plug hole

Question
I have an 8HP briggs model 190432 on a generator. I have rebuilt the carb,( had a broken main jet). It has a strong spark (not quite as blue as I prefer though). The motor won't start unless I flood the  engine with gas down the spark plug hole then pull and pull and pull maybe 15 or 20 times. Then it runs great till I shut it off. Then it wont start again till its completely cold and I flood it with gas again. I ran a compression test and have 100psi. I suspect worn valves or spark not hot enough. What do you think? thanks, Mike

Answer
Hi MIke
I think you have a choke issue.  Try removing the air cleaner and covering the carb inlet with your hand, add no extra gas, try to crank it.  If you find you can get it to fire, maybe even run, the chokes setting is incorrect.
Lemme know how this test goes!
