Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Troy-Bilt Super Bronco model J609, automatic transmisson, troy bilt

Question
Hello John:  I Purchased above lawn tractor(automatic transmisson)   in 2005. The day it was delivered the belt came off. They came back, put on a new belt, worked for several weeks, belt came off a couple of times, another belt put on. now (2006) belt comes off ALL the Time. I can hardly use this 1 yr old mower anymore. Any Ideas?    Thanks-

Answer
 Hello Jim:

If you Remove the Deck and Look Up Under the Mower. Every Place the Belt Makes a Turn on a Pulley or Idler, there should be a Bracket or Bolt that Is Positioned to Keep the Belt from Jumping Off the Pulley or Idler. If the Bracket or Bolt Isnt Set Close Enough to the Pulley or Idler, then the Belt will Continue to Jump Off. Make Sure the Brackets or Bolts are Within 1/8" of the Pulley or Idler. If you can Remove the Belt by Hand without Moving the Bracket or Bolt then it is Set wrong. Check All the Pulleys and Idlers to Make Sure they Arent Bent or Loose as this will Throw the Belt Off Also. The Idlers Usually have the Bracket Attached with the Bolt that Holds the Idler in Place. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
