Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman 6.25 engine wont start, starter fluid, engine model

Question
John,

I have a Craftsman 6.25HP lawn mower.  It has worked fine so far this year.  I turned it over to clean the bottom of the mower.  When I tried to restart, it would only start for a few seconds.  The length of time was dependent on the number of times I primed it.  I took the carburetor assembly off and made sure lines were clean.  When I reassembled the same symptoms occurred.  Any ideas?

The engine model is 143.006200

Thanks,

Erik

Answer
 Hello Erik:

It sounds like you Dumped all the Trash/Water that May have been in the Carburator Bowl into the  Carburator Itself. Try to Run the Engine with Starter Fluid for 25 to 30 Seconds. If you are able to Run the Engine with the Starter Fluid, then Remove the Carburator and Use Compressed Air to Blow All the Ports and Passages Out. Compressed Air is a Must. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
