Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Self Propelled Craftsman, self propelled mower, roll pin

Question
Hi my question is about my self propelled mower, a Craftsman 6.75hp model 917.377593.  Yesterday my front wheels locked up and the self drive would not work also.  I took the time to remove the blade and sharpen it then removed the front axle.  Both pullies are in good working order but it seems as if the gears are broken inside the gearbox.  When I opened the gear box to look at it all seemed to be working.  Reassembled and it worked for a second then locked up once more.

I disassembled it once again and have it now where the front wheels no longer lock up but the drive is still broken.  Is there a replacement axle or gearbox I can purchase or am I out of luck?  I've searched the internet but I must be using the wrong wording because I am finding nothing.  The funny thing is it worked fine last week.  Also I checked the gears on both wheels and everything spins or doesn't spin as it should from what I can tell.

The way it is now if I try to engage the front drive, it tries to work for a second then the front pulley sort of locks, the mower lurches forward then the pulley starts spinning again until I try to engage it again and the whole process repeats.

I hope I gave you enough information but I'm really lost here.  Need to fix the front drive so the wife can cut the grass next time I deploy.

Any help would be great.  Thanks in advance.

Answer
 Hello Jack:

Contact http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ and they can get you the Part you Require. Even if you dont see the Part Online; Call their Infomation Number. Your Part may not be Listed Online. It Sounds like a Tooth is Broken Inside the Gearbox. Clean the Inside of the Gearbox with Cleaning Solution and Inspect the Gears. If its not a Broken Tooth, then Check the Roll Pins the Attach the Gears to the Shafts. If the Roll Pin Shears the Gear will Slip on the Shaft and Cause the Teeth on the Gears to be Out of Alignment. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
