Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): engine overheating ? (smoking), head gasket, brake safety

Question
I believe my JD L155 with a 15HP Kohler engine overheats.  I
always notice some smoke coming out of the engine's top and
front after I shut it off, even if it was run for only a few minutes.
The cooling fins and air filter are very clean and it has the proper
amount of 10W-30 oil.  It seems to have ample power.  A couple
years ago mice had completely plugged things up and it lead to
blowing the head gasket.  A professional fixed that.  I am the
one that 2 days ago asked about the mower dying when
releasing the brake.  I didn't find the root cause, but got it
running by removing the wiring harness from thr brake/clutch
switch and inserting a stiff wire in the plug to short the 2 black
wires, which are normally closed when the pedal is depressed.
Basically it bypasses the saftey switch which you probably
correctly identified.  Probably one of those 3 relays went bad.  I
don't think the possible overheating problem is related to this
other one.

Answer
 Hello Dave:

By Jumpering out the Brake Switch you have Found you Cause for the Other Problem you wrote about. The Clutch/Brake Safety Switch is Bad. If the Relay was Bad then Jumpering the Brake/Clutch Switch would not have Solved the Problem. Now the Smoke After Shutting Off the Engine Concern: Always try to Allow the Engine to Idle for 2 or 3 Minutes After Using. This Allows for the Flywheel Fins to Cool the Engine A Small Amount and Helps Prevent Internal Damage to the Engine. It Sounds like there May be a Small Oil Leak Under the Blower Housing or the Engine is Just Dirty. Clean the Engine of Dirt and Oil. Minor Smoking can be Expected as this is an Air Cooled Engine. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please.

 Good Luck
