Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): May have trans. problems, hydrostatic transaxle, hydromatic

Question
As the lawn mower(rider) gets hot, It slows down.

The handle for the hydromatic trans comes back and I feel pressure when I try to push it forward. I can sence the motor stuggling as in push ths handle Forward or backward

When it cools, it is almost normal.

If it is the trans. Is it easy to work on.

Answer
 Hello Dale:

The Transaxle in your Mower is A Hydrostat Drive Transaxle and is Not Serviceable Except by a Qualified Repair Shop. I would Check the Transaxle Drive Belt. If the Belt is Stretched it will Heat up Under Operation and Cause the Problem. Also check the Transaxle Cooling Fan. Is this Transaxle Clean of Dirt? A Dirty Hydrostatic Transaxle will Run Hotter than Normal and Cause the Fluid to Thin Out and Cause this Problem Too. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
