Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman belt replacement, craftsman model, penetrating oil

Question
Thank you for the suggestion, but it did not work.  I used a Dremel tool to remove any debris from the snout protruding out the blade adapter.  Then I soaked both ends of the crank above and below the adapter with penetrating oil (overnight).  I applied enough pressure with the puller that the screw part applying pressure slightly deformed the part of the snout.  With pressure remaining on the puller I tapped around the blade adapter with a hammer to try and get movement with no success.

The deformation of the snout is not bad enough to leave a ridge for the adapter to overcome, but there obviously was enough pressure to get the adapter to move if there is not either a missing step or a different way that the adapter is held on.  Are the adapters ever screwed onto the shaft?  If yes, how do you prevent the crank from turning while applying torque to get the adapter unscrewed?

Question -
I have a Craftsman model 917.377573 self propelled mower that I need to replace the belt on.  I cannot figure out how to get the belt cover under the mower deck off.  It looks like I have to get the part that the blade bolts onto off, but I can't figure out how to get that off.  I have sprayed it with a penetrating oil and tapped with a hammer with no success.

 Hello Carl:

You will need a Puller to Remove the Blade Adapter. Hope this Helps. Let me know what happens.

 Good Luck

Answer
 Hello Carl:

You are going to have to get a Torch and Apply Heat to the Blade Adapter. I have let Blade Adapters Soak in All Types of Penetrating Oil on the Market and If they Havent Worked in 24 hours, then Heat is Required. I have Broken Several Pullers Too. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please.

 Good Luck
