Question -
I have a craftsman II model #917.254641. The mower runs fine but the key doesn't work so to start it I have to jump the solonoid. I just bought a new ignition and a new solonoid and it still doesn't work. The key itself works find as far as on/off.. but when you turn it to start it doesn't do anything. When I put the new solonoid on I noticed a broken tab on the right post (if your facing the solonoid) but there are no wires anywhere. Is there anywhere I can get a wiring diagram so I can try to track down my phantom wire?

Thanks

Kevin

 Hello Kevin:

Did you Check the Safety Switches? The Seat Safety and the Clutch Safety Switches will Prevent the Mower From Starting using the Ignition Switch. I will Look up this Model Mower and Hope to have more answers when you Answer my Question. I will also have a Web Address for a Manual. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please.

 Good Luck

I haven't tried yet but I will when I get home. I know the cluch/brake is locked but I didn't try sitting on the seat (i have the transaxel off for repairs). But the blade engage lever isn't engaged so I didn't think that would make a difference since the button for that switch is depressed. I will try it when I get home though.

Thanks

 Hello Kevin:

Dont Forget the Neutral Safety Switch Too. I forgot to Mention it in my Earler email and was going to Update my Post to you. You Might want to Jumper Out the Safety Switches One at a Time to Ensure they are Working. Just because they are Depressed Doesnt mean they are Working. Hope this Helps.
