Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Riding mower wont start, starter fluid, blue spark

Question
Recently replace ring gear and starter gear, etc.  I
put back together and it won't start.  It turns over
fast, is getting some spark at the plug, but not a blue spark.  Magneto was set at .010, new plug set at .030, flywheel sanded for rust, sprayed with contact cleaner, and still no luck.  I assume this has points, but I have not replaced since mower was running great when starter gear broke. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.   B & S Model: 287707
Type: 022401  Code: 7264R   Went to B & S, but no manual available for this model....Thanks, Don Boyd

Answer
 Hello Don:

The Coil is Set at .020. If there was an Aluminum Cover Under the Flywheel, then this Engine has Points under that Cover. You have Fire at the Plug. Spray a SMALL Amount of Starter Fluid into the Carb Throat while Trying to Start the Engine. If it Catches and Runs then Dies, you need to Clean and Overhaul the Carb. I would Reset the Coil and Then Try Again Before going to the Carb. Hope this Helps.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully
