Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman 26 HP riding mower, valve clearance, exact data

Runs fine for the first few min, then start missing and backfiring. Have cleaned filters, new plugs. Think in might be valves need adjusting. Do you know the valve setting  for B&S 26 HP OHV (ELS series)?

Isn't this a pretty new mower?  Thats a hoss of an engine- I haven't worked on ANY of those, and I cannot find any exact data for the valve clearance.  You confident about the fuel quality?  Although it DOES sound like a valve lash issue.  You might consider calling a couple of small engine shops and asking, they may have seen one of those come through.
