Car Stereos: replacement speakers for 1991 Jaguar, 1991 jaguar xj6, replacement speakers

Question
QUESTION: i have a 1991 Jaguar XJ6 Sovereign. due to the age of the car, all of the interior audio speakers are blown out.  where can i find replacement speakers?  thank you!

ANSWER: Hi Jack.

you can get replacement speakers for your car at almost any half decent car audio shop sizes are 4" on front and 4" on back what you need to find out though its if that car has 4ohm or 2ohm speakers, have the guys on the shop test the old speakers impedance so you can buy the right set of speakers.

Cheers.

QUESTION: Ed, thank you very much...i went to a very good car stereo shop who told me that b/c the rear speakers were two way (i think treble and mid range, but it might be base and mid range), they didn't have any and couldn't get any.  i went to Radio Shack and they told me the same thing...any ideas?

thank you very much!!!

Answer
well i dont understand why they couldnt get a 4" 2 way speaker. the only thing you need to know its the impedance on the speakers so you can go shopping, if you cannot find the correct speaker on your local stores go online to crutchfield.com, or maybe ebay.com if you trust online stores.

the only reason im asking you to find out the impedance on your speakers its because your stereo system  does its power at a certain impedance wich reads in ohms. most of the door speakers are 4ohm but on amplified systems like the bose, alpine etc. their speakers are 2ohm, if you put a 4ohm speaker on a 2ohm system then the speaker its not gonna play loud at all. Infinity its the only brand that we carry that makes 2ohm speakers, the rest are 4ohm. so if you cant find the actual speaker have them test the speakers to see the impedance so you can get the right one.

cheers.
