Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): craftsman riding lawn mower will not stay running, coil wire, mower deck

Question
I have a craftsmans model 252707 riding lawn mower. I have changed the air filter, the fuel filter, and the spark plug. The gas and oil is new. It will not stay running and dies out. I have also brought two batteries because either I am getting a bad battery that will only last a few times or there is something wrong electrical. It has new belts also for the mower deck and the transmission. I now have to get another new battery because it will not hold a charge, but I still can not get it to run long only about 5-10 minutes. I would appreciate any help you can give me. Also I replaced the key switch and the cylonoid last year.

Answer
 Hello Betty:

When the Engine Dies, Can you Restart the Engine or do you have to Wait for a Couple of Hours before it will Restart? If Yes, the Ignition Module can be Getting hot and Grounding. To Check this: Run Mower until it Quits. 1- Remove the Spark Plug.*BE CAREFUL* **HOT PARTS** 2- Wrap a Wire Around the Plug Threads and Attach the Other End of the Wire to the Engine for a Ground. Replace the Coil Wire Onto the Plug. Turn the Engine. Is there Fire? If Yes, then the Next Thing to do is Clean and Overhaul the Carb and Do a Compression Test to Check and see if the Valves or Rings are Causing the Problem. We will do the Coil and Carb First. If that Doesnt Work, then you will have to do a Compression Test. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully
