Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Replacing a pull-start on a Briggs & Stratton 10A902-2189, briggs stratton, starter rope

Question
Mr. Bridgers, I hope you can help.
I have a 2001 Yard Machines mower with a B&S 10A902-2189 engine, and recently jerked the starter cord out of the housing.  I would like to replace it myself, but when I remove the cover, the starter housing looks to be riveted on, not screwed on.  I've felt up underneath where the cord was wound into, but I didn't feel anything that would indicate I could insert a new cord and wind it up.  Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated.
The full Model/Type number of my engine is 10A902/2189-B1/01073155.  I've looked on B&S's website, but could not find any info on replacing the starter cord.

Answer
 Hello Arthur:

Check the Side of the Pulley you see when you Look into the Starter Well. There should be a Hole for the Starter Rope to Stick thru and Be Tied. It may have a Staple in it. Have seen them both ways. Tie a Small Knot in one end of the New Rope. Without removing the Pulley, Turn the Pulley Counter Clockwise and see if the Spring will Tighten Up. If it Does, then Line up the Hole in the Pulley so as to Push one end of the Rope into the Hole and Line it Up with the Hole in the Starter Housing when the Rope comes out of the Pulley. Push the Rope through the Hole of the Starter Housing and Pull the Rope until the Knot is Snug to the Pulley. Carefully Tie a Slip Knot into the Rope after it has Exited the Starter Housing to hold the Pulley while you Put the Handle on the Rope. Put the Handle on the Rope and then Release the Slip Knot. Replace the Housing onto the Mower. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
