Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Troy Bilt Bronco J609G766 Drive Belt Problem, manual transaxle, hydrostatic drive

Question
Model: Troy Bilt Bronco J609G766 Drive Belt (Purchased from Lowes in 2005)

Problem: Stopped moving forward/backward during operation; drive padel got loose

I suspect the drive belt is either slipped off or broken. I downloaded the instruction on how to replace the transmission drive belt from troybilt.com, which looks really intimidating to me. It appears that there are two driving belts for my model. How hard is it to replace it for an ordinary user like me who never did this before?

Another question: now the tractor can't be moved even in neutral gear. The wheel seems to be locked in gear. Is there anyway that I can disengage the gear so that I can move it off the lawn?

Answer
 Hello Fang:

It is a Time Consuming Process, but most people can replace the Belts. If this is a Hydrostatic Drive, there should be a Release Valve to Allow the Fluid to Bypass the Control Valve. If it is a Regular Manual Transaxle, then something has Broken inside the Transaxle and that may be why the Belt Jumped Off/Broke. If you will look at the Belt Routing and think you can do this, I wiil be Glad to Assist you. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
