Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman 20 horse misses with bumps, carftsman, loose wire

Question
Hi John. This may sound weird, but my 20 horse Carftsman misses when I hit bumps or use it on bumpy (uneven) terrain. It has a fairly new carb on it that had to be cleaned out. Is it possible that the float is off just a bit? It runs perfect, at any speed, when it is sitting still and when it is on smooth ground. It will also miss sometimes during sharp turns. What do you think is the problem? I can not find any carb specs so I don't know what the float should be set at. The mower is using a 20 horse - twin cylinder "Onan" engine. Thanx for any help you can offer. Al Flint.

Answer
 Hello Al:

Have you Checked for a Loose Wire. Check the Wire Under the Blower Housing that goes to the Coil. Does the Mower Pull a Grade and Miss? If No; then the Cause is a Wire in the Harness that is just Grounding Enough when hitting Bumps to cause the Miss. If Yes; Then the Carb Float is Set Wrong. The Float is Set with the Carb Turned Upside Down Set the Float Level with the Carb Bowl Seat. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
