Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): John Deere riding lawn mower, correct voltage, charging system

John, I hope you can help me out.  My mowers PTO will not engage. I put a new switch in it and it worked for 20min and quit on me again. other issues which I think maybe related: Head lights do not work and the rectifier gets extremely hot. Do you think its the rectifier, possibly a bad battery or something else?  I appericiate the help.

 Hello Scott:

 Replace the Rectifier. Make Sure the Charging System is working. If you dont have the Correct Voltage, the PTO will not Function Properly. Have you Checked the Fuse? Take the Battery to your local Automotive Parts Store and ask them to Load Test the Battery. Please keep me Informed. Hope this Helps.
