Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): McCulloch 120, speed needles, adjustment screws

Question
I was just given a Mac 120. What is the fuel mix, and what is an approximate setting for the fuel adjustment screws? Is there a place to get parts if I need them?

Thanks,
Tony

Answer
The fuel mix I would use on that saw is 32:1.  The later model 120 saws used a 40:1 mix in order to produce less pollution.

High and low speed needles should be 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 turns out from a GENTLY seated position.

Parts can be difficult to find for any McCulloch...they went out of business a few years ago but have recently been purchased by another company who is starting to make parts.

I would not spend much money on the saw.  If the easy things don't fix it I would throw it away...I've seen new or refirbished saws sell for as low as $60.00.  Parts can quickly add up...$20 for a carb kit, $3 for a spark plug, $30-40 for a bar and chain.

Let me know if this helps.
