Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Direction of removal of flywheel bolt, briggs stratton engine, briggs stratton

Question
I have a 2001 Troy Built LXT 15.5 Hydro lawn tractor.
Briggs & Stratton engine #280777, type 06-41A1, code 9604114A, model 14051.
I need to know how to remove the flywheel, especially which direction to turn the bolt for removal?
I am replacing the starter ring which has several teeth missing.
I would appreciate your help.

Answer
 Hello Gregory:

The Flywheel Nut is Removed the Same as Regular Nuts. Turn Clockwise to Tighten and Counter Clockwise to Loosen. An Impact Wrench will Probally be Required to Remove the Flywheel Nut. Once the Flywheel Nut has Been removed; Use a Steering Wheel Puller to Loosen the Flywheel for Removal. Attach the Puller to the Flywheel (there is holes in the Flywheel for this purpose) and Tighten the Puller. Hit the Puller with a Hammer and then Retighten the Puller. Repeat this Process until the Flywheel Pops Free of the Crankshaft. Then Lift and Remove the Flywheel. Hope this Helps.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
