Car Alarms: Car wont start, valet mode, toyota corolla

Question
I searched the previous questions and tried many suggestions, but none have worked for me.
I have a 95 Toyota Corolla.  Bought it used many years ago and it already had an Automate alarm installed.  I stopped using the alram years ago because the case for my remote broke and I could no longer keep it on my keychain.
Today I removed the battery so I could replace a headlight.   Before removing the battery, I did what I thought were proper steps to goto Valet mode (not sure if that was even necessary) Now I have hooked my battery back up, everything works, but when I goto to start the car absolutely NOTHING happens.  When I take the key out of the ignition my alarm starts going off.  I have the remote to turn it off at this point.  I tried one suggestion I read that said put key in and turn to just before crank and then hold valet button until LED light becomes solid, only the light never becomes solid.  I am so pissed, all this just from trying to change a headlight.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Answer
If not resetting, you may just have to get up
in the dash and remove it alltogether.
Not usefull, and now a pain in the tail.

I would locate the starter wire in the ignition,
cut out the starter kill relay, repair the wire
to pre install condition, and unplug the alarm.

Then toss it in the garbage, and while you
are at it, get one that works for you.

If you want the wires to retrofit the system
go to www.mywires.com

Good luck.
