Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Engine feels like it is locked up, engine model type, dip stick

While mowing the other day, the dip stick tube came loose and the oil in my snapper rear engine mower and leaked out. It has a 9hp engine and it needes to be replaced I believe. If I have to replace the engine can I put a 12hp engine on my mower

Most likely you can replace it with the 12 horse engine.

You local Briggs dealer should have an Briggs engine sales manual that will have the info in it.

If you are not close to a Briggs dealer you can probably email the Briggs support desk and they can help you.

Make sure you have you engine model, type and code number availalbe.  This info will be needed to identify a replacement engine.
