Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 17.5 brigs and stratton fills cylinderhead with gas, brigs and stratton, float bowl

Question
Hi there I have a craftsman 17.5 hp brigs and stratton motor, The mower was working great, yesterday I went out did 1 circle around the lawn and she quit as if it had no fuel. There was 1/2 tank. I whirled it over she would not start, charged the battery over night now it won't whirl over. I took the spark plug out and gas poured out of the cylinder head, also the 1/2 tank of fuel was empty. Wondering will cleaning the carberator help and if there is something else i should do. also any thing special I need to know when cleaning the carb.  Thanks for any info you can help me with....

Answer
 Hello Ron:

Other than the Usual Tools, you will need access to High pressure Air (120psi). Clean and Overhaul the Carb (use new parts). The Needle and Seat for the Carb Float Bowl is the reason the Cylinder filled up with Gas. Also Change the Oil before you Start the Engine Again.  you will Notice Gas in the Oil. Hope this Helps.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
