Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): lawn mower repair, lawn mower repair, tempered steel

Question
I was mowing my lawn and I ran over a root which caused my blade to bend ,was able to finish mowing but saw a serious issue with the quality of my cut, flipped mower on side to investigate and now the mower wont run? did I get to much oil in the carb?or while I was trying to strighten out the blade did I bend the shaft.I can turn the mower over by hand at the top of the motor but it stops about after one full turn.when I then turn the key it moves only that distance and then it stops.cant get it to fire.any help would be great.

Answer
 Hello Robert:

NEVER STRAIGHTEN A BENT BLADE!!! Blades are made from Tempered Steel and Once Bent and Straightened they Become Brittle and Break Easier.  As for the Engine Problem: 1- Remove the Spark Plug. 2- Turn Engine and Push any Oil from Cylinder. 3- With Plug Removed Tilt Mower and Watch the Center of the Crankshaft. If it Wobbles More Than 1/16" then the Crankshaft is Bent to far to use. For more help, Please send the Make, Model and Engine size. Hope this Helps.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully
