Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): returning coil after pull start card broke, hose clamp, pvc pipe

I have a rototiller and we tried to start it today and the cord broke off. we were able to fix the cord, but now we can not get the coil back in property to make it retract the cord after pulling it - hope you can help? I know we are putting to much logic into this, but we are at our wits end - Thanks!

 Hello Ammie:

 Purchase a Hose clamp that will open to 4 1/2". Coil the Spring inside the Clamp and then Place the Spring inside the Housing; then push the Spring into the Housing and remove the Clamp. A Piece of PVC pipe works well also. Hope this Helps.
