Chrysler Repair: 95 lebaron radio problem, electrolytic capacitors, radio problem

Question
My fm band on the original radio just stopped working.  AM is fine as is the tape player.  Any ideas?

Answer
Hi Dennis,
The only simple possibility is that the am/fm push button is dirty in the fm mode. You could remove the radio, open it up, and spray some electrical contact cleaner into the switch that is operated by that button. If that doesn't work, then you are into electronic circuit troubleshooting to find the blown solid state device or capacitor. You could look over the circuit board to see if there are any "wet" electrolytic capacitors and replace any that you find. Also check to be sure that the antenna is properly connected as the am signal is likely to not be as degraded as is the fm if the connection is poor.
