Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): MTD Yard Machine with 4.75 quantum briggs and stratton, briggs and stratton, gas tank

I have a MTD Yard Machine with the 4.75 briggs and stratton engine.  I can crank it up and it runs fine until i tip the front of the mower up, then it sputters out and dies.  I tried it with the air filter off, took the gas tank off and replaced the gas.  As far as I can see there is no fuel filter.  I was running fine last time i used it a few weeks ago, and i use the same gas in other equpiment around the house..  What gives?

Hi Brad,
First thing to check, if it has a fuel bowl,drop the bowl and check for water.  
Second thing is to check your linkage to your choke.  If its loose or damaged, the choke plate may be closing when its tilted.
