Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): B&S 3hp Carb Kit, air fuel mixture, briggs stratton

Question
I have a 3hp horizontal Briggs & Stratton edger engine 80202 1137-01. I am able to get it started, but after the engine gets resistance from the grass it dies out and is difficult to restart. I've checked the spark, oil and gas with no problems. I then removed the carburetor thinking there might be a fuel flow problem. After cleaning the carb the engine will not stay running more than a couple of minutes. My first question is what do you suggest? Next what carb kit would I need to rebuild the carburetor? Then do I need and head kit and if so which one? Thanks and my wife looks forward to her grass having a nice edge again.

Answer
 Hello Michael:

Take the Engine Make, Model, Type and Code numbers to your local Small Engine Repair Shop they can give you the proper Kit. Make sure the Float is Level with the Bowl Housing Seat, and that all Ports and Passages are Clear. The Settings for the Air/Fuel Mixture Screws are: Both turned clockwise until Seated (DO NOT JAM!!!). Then turn Counter Clockwise 1 1/2 turns Counter Clockwise. This gets you started and running. If only 1 screw its the same setting. If all this works then Let me know and we can Finish setting the Carb.  Hope this Helps.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
