Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): how to replace flywheel key, briggs and stratton, steering wheel puller

Question
I ran my mower aground. Acts like it did when I have hit a rock in the past and I had a neighbor that replaced a"key"that took care of the problem. That neighbor has moved- how do I check to see if that is the problem and how to go about it. Craftsman 3 in 1 walk behind self-propelled with briggs and stratton engine 6.5 hp about 7 yrs. old maybe more?

Answer
 Hello Glenn:

To remove the Flywheel: 1- Remove the Blower Housing(engine cover). 2- You will need a Steering Wheel Puller for this next Step. 3- Mount the Puller onto the Flywheel. 4- Tighten the Puller and then JAR the Top of the Puller with a hammer. Now tighten the puller some more and Jar again. The Flywheel will Pop up and is ready to be Removed. You can then see where the New Key Goes.  Hope this Helps.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
