Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): eager1, starter rope, hello bill

Question
after a year my craftsman engine siezed up and i replaced it with an eager1. after a year i found it running noisey. i found the nut attaching the blade loose and tightened it. after a cutting it started again. i found the mag had two tapped holes in it . i flattened the tab on the bottom of the starter cuo ahd screwed down the starter cup onto the mag. reassembled only to find that the pull starter would not engage and i could not start the mower. is the cup meant to be free floating? this mower has been a problem from day one and sears is of no help. the gras is growing and all repair shops are busy-- i need my mower---thank you

Answer
 Hello Bill:

The Tabs Need to Set into the Tapped Holes. These Tabs Keep the Starter Cup in Place when you Pull on the Starter. Your Problem is in the Starter Dog Ears Inside the Starter Housing. Check these and ensure that: 1- the ears are not Worn Down. 2- They Extend out when you Pull the Starter Rope. The Starter Cup is Not Free Floating.  Hope this Helps.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully
