Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Briggs and Stratton twin cylinder, briggs and stratton, defective coil

Question
The Coil is actually a magneto assembly (called an armature magneto on the B&S parts list), I switched sides, and the same cylinder still would not fire. So I guess it's not the magneto. I noticed two wires on the igntion page of the illustrated parts list called "wire stops- cylinder 1 and 2". Don't know their function. Have a next step for me to try?
Thanks,

Question -
I have an B&S 18.5hp 2 cyl. engine on my tractor.(1997 Yard Man) One cylinder is not getting any spark. The engine will start and run on the one cylinder. Plugs were replaced. It didn't help. Regulator looks like it has some burn marks under the potting. Any thoughts? Regulator? Magneto?
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Answer -
Gary- sorry for the delay (business trip)
1st thing- swap the leads from the coil to the plugs if possible to test the plug lead (suspect) the twins generally fire both plugs every time at the same time (no distributor)
lemme know how this goes-

OK- you have one of two problems.  I'm most concerned with your non-firing cylinders compression- you may have a burned valve.  When you swapped the coil leads did the engine still run on the one good cylinder?  This would indicate the coil is ok, and point a finger at the non-firing cylinders valves.

If the engine wouldn't run at all- you may still have a defective coil- in THIS case- remove it, take it to a reputable shop, they can test it.
Lemme know-
