Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): rearend leak, riding mower, transaxles

Question
I have a sear's riding mower that is leaking at the axle seal.[left side]Do I have to split the rearend case apart to fix,or just remove the wheel?

Answer
 Hello Brent:

Its going to Depend on Who the Manufacturer was for the Transaxle. There are 2 types of Transaxles. One the Seal is Inside the Casing and the Other is Outside. Remove the Wheel and If you can see the Seal you have no worries. If not then the Transaxle will have to be Opened to Replace the Seal.
If you send me the Make, Model and Engine Size I can Tell what you have. Hope this Helps.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
