Briggs&Stratton Model;191707 Type;1144-01 Code;79061209 This engine hunts and will only run at full revs it also backfires and has little power.The carb has been changed and i think it maybe in the govenor or linkages to it.Any breakdown pictures would also be good.Thanks...Ross

It sounds like you may have a partially sheared timing key.  Remove the flywheel and take a look.   You can get a copy of the parts manual by going to www.briggsandstratton.com    clicking on illustrated parts manuals and entering your model and type number

The hunting problem does sound like a gov problem if you changed the carb and are using FRESH FUEL from the pump.  Lets get the backfiring problem resolved first.  You can purchase a Briggs and Stratton service Manual at any dealer or online.  you may also be able to find one at your local library
