Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): gas string trimmers, gas string trimmers, recoil spring

the pull cord on my craftsman string trimmer broke(dog broke off won't engage)i disassemble and recoil spring uncoiled is it possible to recoil it, and reassemble or is there an easier solution

 Hello Kevin:

 Take a piece of Piece of PVC Pipe 1/2" LONG and the Inside Diameter is Slightly Smaller than the Recoil Spring Seat in the Housing. Coil the Spring into the Pipe. Position the Spring over the Seat and Push the Spring from the Pipe with a Deepwell Socket.
