Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): transmission, murray riding lawnmower, sandpaper

Question
when I was putting new tires on my murray riding lawnmower the axles were rusted so i took a piece of wood and I took something and hit it to get it on. Now when i put it into gear it wont go nowhere. Do you know if i broke a carter pin.Thank you.

Answer
Darrel, for future reference, take some sandpaper and clean off the axle!  To check your differential, raise the side off the ground that you replaced.  Try to spin the wheel.  If it turns freely, you likely sheared the pin attaching the shaft to the gear inside the differential.  If it won't turn without trying to spin the other wheel the opposite direction, look closely at your belt routing around your drive pulleys.  Let me klnow whayt you find.
