Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): cub cadet, briggs and stratton, air suction

Question
Hi.
I have a cub riding mower with a briggs and stratton engine (not a garden tractor).  the engine stopped running and I replaced the spark plug.  It's getting fuel and there's spark (checked the new plug). It still won't run. Help!

Answer
Hi Jim,

If fuel is getting to the engine (The plug should be wet if the engine is not firing) and you have spark at the plug, the engine should show some signs of life.  Ignition timing needs to be correct and compression must be good but we can address that later if needed.  Try squirting fuel or starting fluid into the carb's intak to see if it will start.  Check for air suction at the intake also.

Let me know what you find.
