can you tell what the gap is on points for a max 110  and how can i test the coil    thank you  norman

Answer
You can check the coil for open or shorts using an ohm meter.

I would set the points a 0.018

No spark?  Many newer saws come with electronic ignition..point being you can look for a saw that resembles yours and the coil will swap over.  Lots of these saws have  been sold and finding a newer used coil is pretty easy.
