Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): tecumse engined mower stops, victa mower, tecumse

Question
I have a tecumse powered Victa mower which has not done a lot of work and it seems in good condition. Recently I have been having a lot of trouble starting it and then even more recently when it has started it has been cutting out over and over again. Sometimes it runs for 5 seconds some times  for 2 minutes or so. I have removed the float chamber and there seems to be plenty of fuel getting through and I have adjusted the float up and down but to no avail. Can you give me any ideas? Are there any filters that need changing or cleaning? I have never changed the plug but it seems more like a fuel problem to me.

Answer
Most of the symptoms you described are fuel related.  Tecumseh carbs either work great or not at all.
Most repairs are completed by removing, dis-assembling and cleaning the carb with compressed air and carb cleaner.

Have ever removed the carb?  If so, cleaning the carb will be no problem...just need an air compressor.

Let me know if this helps.
