I cleaned & rebuilt the carb, finally got it running and adjusted. Float appears to function correctly, but when not running float bowl overfills into carb intake and drips allover. Any ideas what the problem may be? float adjustment? Ariens snow blower , motor is approx 12 yrs old.
Answer -
Some of those snow blowers have a spring on the float to help hold the inlet needle closed.

Did you replace the inlet needle and seat?  Make sure the float is not bad.  We have had them fill completely with fuel, did't really leak and you could not hear sloshing in the float but when weighed againt a new float it was very obvious the float was bad.

Did you install the inlet needle seat with the groove down?
Let me know.
Eric
I replaced the needle, ck'd the float, no fuel in it, have had that happen before. I didn't replace the seat as it didn't come w/the carb kit, but i can take it apart  ck that if you feel that to be a likely cause. Thank- You for teh quick response.

Answer
Inlet needle seats are the most common part we replace.  Use and air compressor or dental pick to either blow or pull the old seat out.

Spray a little WD-40 on the new seat and install it GROOVE down.  You can use a flat punch or a Briggs point plunger to push the new seat into place.

The float should sit about level when you hold the carb upside down.

This should fix the flooding.
