QuestionI had the 190000 series 8 HP B&S engine on my Snapper riding mower sleeved and am putting it back together.
How do you tighten the flywheel to 65 ft.lbs. when instead of a flywheel nut there is a clutch assembly for the rewind starter that screws onto the crankshaft threads?
I have torque wrench but am not sure how I can use it with the clutch assembly to tighten the flywheel to the proper torque. Do I have to have a special tool or socket?
I don't want to break the new clutch assembly I just bought.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
AnswerYes, there is a special tool. The last time I checked the tool was fairly cheap. It fits on the clutch, then a socket can be placed on the tool so you can torque the clutch. You will probalbly have to use a strap wrench to hold the flywheel in place to torque the clutch.
DO NOT use a pry bar and try to hold the flywheel using the cooling fins. Briggs sells a special tool to hold the flywheel...they also sell a strap wrench too.
Let me know if this helps.
