Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Honda GXV140 compatibility, fly wheel, honda motorcycles

I have a honda  HP215K1HMA, hydrostatic lawn mower. The engine got binded due to low oil.
The GXV140MA8 is the original (with fly wheel brake). The cost is 500. There is GXV140N1KA for less than 200 (no fly wheel brake). I have a good machine shop. Can I replace the original with the GXV140N1Ak and us the old fly wheel brake. Is ther too much compatibility issues and could not be done that easy.

I'm not sure if it is compatible; we have never had to opprotunity to try and I doubt many others have either.

I have had compatibility issues with Honda motorcycles, the same model but a couple of model years difference.

If you have access to a good machine shop then you odds increase.

Let me know if you find any other info or it you get it to work.
