Question
I have a 6.5 hp self-propelled mower.  The self-propulsion feature cuts out every minute or two and has to be re-engaged.  Any idea why this would happen?

Hi Bill,

The cable that connects the handle and drive unit may be getting stretched or out of adjustment.  See if you can get it to engage further.  If no change, there may be a problem in the drive unit.  You would need to disassemble it and take a look.  There may be a gear that is getting stripped.
