Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman lawntractor trans axle, eric sears, tractor model

Eric,
Sears is not servicing the tractor.  I am not real happy with Sears lately so I will not use them or recomend them to anyone.  I have someone who is competant with small engines but, just wanted some additional information on the bleeding procedure and oil type to be used.

Question -
I have a Craftsman Kohler Pro 16.5 OHV lawn tractor model# 917.271100 serial# 030599B002644 and the trans axle went bad.  I am having it repaired but we need to know the procedure for bleeding the trans axle and the type of oil we need to use?

Do you know who manufactured the transaxle?  Peerless and Foote make most of the transaxles.

Do you know what parts are being replaced?  We rarely rebuild hydrostat transaxles...labor is too expensive and you have to be careful when rebuilding hydros.

Let me know the brand and I'll see if I can track down some info.
