Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): LAWNMOWER WONT STAY STARTED, stiff wire, lawnmowers

Question
I READ YOUR ANSWER FOR LAWNMOWERS THAT WON'T STAY STARTED (CLEAN THE CARB W/ TAG WIRE). FIRST, WHAT IS TAG WIRE? SECOND,I HAVE A CRAFTSMAN 3.0 SELF PROPELLED LAWNMOWER AND I HAVE SOAKED IT IN GAS AND TRIED TO CLEAN IT BUT IT STILL WON'T STAY STARTED.IS THERE SOMETHING I'M DOING WRONG?

Answer
Tag wire is a small diameter, stiff wire like that of a garbage tie wrap without the plastic coating.  All the soaking in the world will not remove debris or solid varnish from old fuel.  You need to use a mechanical means of removal such as pushing a piece of tag wire through the passages.  Hope this helps.
