Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Eager-1 mower, crankcase oil, eager 1

Question
Hello - I have 2 questions about an older model Eager-1 (Sears) lawnmower a friend of mine has.

1 - What type oil should be used (it is added seperately from the gas).

2 - This mower had been running fine, then was left out in the rain and now won't start.  I drained the gas and oil.  When I pull the rope there is no firing?

Only visible lever to adjust shows Low and High -What position should it be at when starting.

Thank you...

Answer
Hi Jack,

I'm sorry for my delay.

The crankcase oil should be a 30 weight type.  The throttle should be on high, when starting.  If you have no spark, I would check the safety kill switch, if present.  If that is good, then you most likely have a defective ignition coil.

Let me know how you make out.
