Auto body repair & detailing: Paint Thinner Vandalism to 2003 Grand AM GT, quality body, grand am

Question
Someone placed what appears to be a quarter sized amount of paint thinner to the hood of my car.  I noticed it this morning because the paint is pealing back.

The car is a Silver 2003 Grand AM GT Leased vehicle. . . . .I am wondering what the cost to repair the paint will be and do you think insurance will cover it.

Thanks

Answer
It seems unlikly that someone put paint thinner on one spot on your car. But so it happened I will walk you through it. Paint thinner should not effect the finish on a newer car. I am more likely to think that it is a paint defect because it can only peel back from underneath. I would take it to the dealer and tell them it must be a paint defect. They should help you with your problem. Stand up for what you think is right and do not take no for an answer. If that doesnt work take it to a couple of quality body shops and get some estimates. low end 100 dollars, high end 300 dollars.
