Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Tecumseh Engine, 16hp, tractor engine, fuel flow

Question
Lawn tractor engine (Tecumseh) quits after getting hot.  I can see (clear fuel filter) that the gas is "no longer flowing" into the filter up to the carb.  Loosened cap, no line blockage, float mechanism good.  After it cools, the fuel can be seen flowing back into the filter, etc., and it will start right back up.  What's up?

Answer
Hi Pat,

Sometimes the fuel filter will look low but be okay.  Does it start back up within a few minutes?  Test for a lack of fuel flow by squirting fuel or starting fluid into the carb to see if you can restart it and keep it running.  If no change, check for spark.

Let me know what you find.
